Witchy Tip of the Week: Grounding, Meditating, & Shining Your Light

Hello Friends!
Happy post lunar eclipse & full moon. We are still in the shadow period of it so I am sure everyone is still feeling the madness. I was greeted today with a nasty inbox message from someone on LinkedIn which really started the day off well. Got me a little heated, but it also got me aware of needing to get grounded and meditate before I let the emotion take over my mood. After I finished getting back to center and was in a calmer mood it made me realize that it was probably important for me to share this as a tip especially going into the rest of Mars in Retrograde & Holiday season.
Now I am sure most of you have heard about grounding and meditating but did you know they are actually different? And that there is a third practice that helps with self-reflect and connection called Shining? Each of these practices are great to use daily to enhance your way of living and being present in your every day.

Meditating:
Meditating to me is finding the peace in a moment. Getting awareness in the body to quiet the mind in the now from the chaos. Meditating is to help with focusing and in some cases, people are able to receive messages and connections during meditating. It is here to help the mind and body form a communication their own and within the practice of meditating the mind and body are allowed to begin discussion in an easier way.
This practice can be done beyond just sitting peacefully and staring off into space. You are able to do meditation while doing tasks you can zone out of (cleaning, painting, writing, working out). Meditating is the focus on here and now and the internal communication and the peace and clarity of you verse the outside work. If you find yourself needing to move, do something that lets you zone out and move your body (safely). If sitting and zoning out to music with crystals is the way to go for you then go for it! Let your mind focus on an element and meditate to that in the beginning or find a good, guided meditation.

Grounding:
Grounding and meditating get mixed up sometimes because people assume they are the same thing. In practice they are the same, but they serve different purposes. To me grounding is getting the energy of the soul back into the body. It's a reminder that we are tied to this year and are all part of it. Our vessel and soul are here on Earth and grounding helps that tie become stronger.
When grounding you want to be more still in practice, more stable to the Earth. I personally prefer sitting on actually Earth outside, but I know we can't all do that so just find stable footing or ground and take a firm stance. Then pick your favorite element and become that element at its strongest. A tree growing deep in the earth and tall into the sky, a wave crashing onto its self-builder more and more as the tide pulls in, a flame starting as a match strike and then turning into a mighty fire, a feather on the wind being carried away to far off lands. Feel your body become that element and tie it to your core like a weight and feel your soul come back. Whenever you are feeling flighty and out of body, ground.
Shining Your Light:
Now this concept is newer to me. I have learned this year what shining my light actually means. This process serves the purpose of learning to shine your inner essence out to the world. It's the feel of absolute sunshine coming from inside and bursting through and then learning to project that out beyond you into the world.

Any who, this one we do with eyes wide open. Get comfortable in your body and space. And then imagine something that brings you joy. Pure brilliant, amazing happiness and feel it in your soul. Then imagine that little glow growing. Getting bigger and bigger the more love you feed it. Then take that light and see how big you can make it.
This Shining is amazing. It not only lets your inner light out, much of us have been taught to hide it, but it also is a great way to block out any bad juju trying to weasel its way in. It's like a reflector. You shine so bright that anything that isn't meant for you is blinded. It brings the right people in and keeps the not-so-great ones where they need to be.
So here we go! Try all three energy tools! Use them daily and see how slowly over time you start getting more comfortable in you and how you move in this world.
