Witchy Tip for the Week: Cleansing Cluttered Energy

What is up my people! Hope everyone has continued having a wonder Aries season. In about a week we move into Taurus season where we are going to see a lot of chaos! Not like bad chaos, just a Mercury retrograde and eclipse season... should be a joy! With this all-in mind, I am sure we are going to have a whole lot of energy not wanting to go with the flow, and some major needing of cleansing! So without further a due, let's talk about ways to cleanse a space! And we are talking more than just smudging with white sage here people. Please keep in mind to be respectful to cultures & their traditions and do not appropriate them. You are able to smudge with so many other herbs than white sage or palo santo.

  1. Use herbs: If you are part of a close practice, like I discussed in my Understanding Magic: Hereditary Magic, white sage and palo santo may be herbs you are familiar with to cleanse and protect. For people still wanting to smudge but wanting to be respectful I recommend going for cedar, rosemary, lavendar or thyme. You can also use incense! These are all great herbs known for their purify and banish any negative juju.

  2. Use crystals: Place crystals around your space to help absorb negative energy. Something as simple as putting a crystal by your front door and ward off any bad juju from your home. Some good options include black tourmaline, selenite, hematite or clear quartz. Make sure to set the intention when placing to set what exactly the crystal's job is supposed to be? My black tourmaline stays under my bed to fight off any of the dreams what want to turn into bogymen.

  3. Use sound: Use bells, singing bowls, or chimes to create a sound vibration that helps to clear negative energy. You can also use your voice to chant, sing, or recite affirmations. Sometimes its as easy as taking to pots and smashing them around the house saying "If you aren't meant to be here get on out" with your windows cracked. Your neighbors may be a little concerned, but your space will feel a whole lot better.

  4. Use salt: Sprinkle salt around the perimeter of your space to create a protective barrier against negative energy. You can also mix salt with water and use it to clean surfaces. My personally favorite is doubling down and mixing smudging ashes or essentials oils into the salt to make it extra potent!

  5. Use essential oils: Add a few drops of essential oils like lavender or sage to a diffuser or spray bottle filled with water to cleanse your space and promote relaxation. Coming up with a great combination and storing it in an old perfume bottle to bring on the go is great for public spaces.

  6. Use candles: Light candles in your space to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. White or black candles are particularly good for cleansing and purifying.

When cleansing a space, it's important to set your intention and visualize the negative energy being removed from your space. Trust your intuition and experiment with different cleansing techniques to find what works best for you. It will feel different for everyone but try to tap into your energy and see if you feel cleansed after. For me I feel a noticeable difference in my body & its lightness.

Ready to bring it to a new level! Here is a quick and easy cleansing spell!

Materials:

  • A white candle

  • A piece of paper

  • A pen

  • Dried herbs bundle or incense stick

Instructions:

  1. Begin by lighting the white candle and setting it on a flat surface.

  2. Take the piece of paper and write down any negative emotions, thoughts, or experiences that you want to release and cleanse from your energy.

  3. Hold the paper over the flame of the candle and let it burn, visualizing the negative energy being released and transformed into positive energy.

  4. Take the dried herbs or incense stick and light it, allowing the smoke to fill the space. Walk around your house, focusing on areas that may be prone to negative energy, and allow the smoke to cleanse and purify the space.

  5. When you have finished smudging, extinguish the candle and dispose of the ashes from the burnt paper outside.

Remember that the most important aspect of any spell or ritual is your intention. As you perform this spell, visualize yourself and your space being cleansed and purified of all negative energy, and fill the space with positive energy and light.
